It was fall of 1997, and I was finishing my Masers Thesis at the time. What a long, difficult and painful task. Into the middle of that process, the lab Holloween party intruded. What to wear? Heather and I got together and thought, and decided that I should go dressed in my thesis, and that she would go as a red magic marker (similar to the one that my fantastic thesis advisor Dr. Rob had regularly been using liberally on my thesis for the previous few months). The costume was very therapeutic. Heather and I had a great time. Dr. Rob even came up to us and starting correcting my thesis with a red marker while I was wearing it! -JDG
