My partner Jenny Smith and I trying desperately to save her friend from impending ingestion by a large ape. Ahh... the odd things that occasionally happen in life. When not rescuing people from really big monkeys, we spent our time together for years designing and building Ranger NBV, a large underwater robot that is a prototype for a robotic spacecraft (Ranger TSX) that will be flown on the Space Shuttle. It's almost impossible to describe the experience... years of effort, working all day and often much of the night, turning a dream into reality. We survived by semi-continuously quoting from several inspirational movies... "Not a nice place ya' got here Joe" - Joe Versus the Volcano... "I can't worry about that today, I'll worry about that tomorrow" - Gone With the Wind... "Get ready to receive my transmission... Here it comes" - The Wrath of Khan... and "I can't remember what my mother looks like" - Empire of the Sun.
